L'oeuvre
“Xabana” poursuit une série d'œuvres temporaires en harmonie avec le site, proposant un espace sculptural habitable et modulable. Construit en bois, il s’adapte à l’échelle et à la topographie locales, marquant le site de manière distincte et colorée. L’œuvre évoque le vernaculaire de la campagne viticole à travers son langage constructif et l’utilisation de piquets en bois. L'assemblage de pièces de bois en forme de X, créé une structure courbée et géométrique, stable et fluide, qui peut être façonnée pour créer des poches d’espace.
The artwork
‘Xabana’ continues a series of temporary works in harmony with the site, offering a habitable and adaptable sculptural space. Built from wood, it adjusts to the local scale and topography, marking the site in a distinct and colorful way. The piece evokes the vernacular of the winegrowing countryside through its construction language and use of wooden stakes. The assembly of X-shaped wooden pieces creates a curved and geometric structure — both stable and fluid — that can be shaped to form pockets of space.

Artiste et architecte multidisciplinaire, Matthias Neumann travaille entre les États-Unis, l'Allemagne et la Grèce. Son œuvre a été présentée à l'international dans divers musées et expositions, et il a réalisé de nombreuses installations d'art public en Europe et aux États-Unis. Design finaliste pour le mémorial du WTC à New York et lauréat pour le Centre africain près du Cap, en Afrique du Sud ont été primés.

The artist - Matthias Neumann
Multidisciplinary artist and architect, Matthias Neumann works between the United States, Germany, and Greece. His work has been presented internationally in various museums and exhibitions, and he has created numerous public art installations across Europe and the United States. He was a finalist in the design competition for the WTC Memorial in New York and a winner for the African Centre near Cape Town, South Africa.
